Celebrate Small Victories

February 8th, 2008 | by Lisa |

One of the best ways to stay on track with your fitness goals is to celebrate small victories.  If you are only thinking about the big, long-term results of being 2 or 3 sizes smaller and having muscular, shapely arms, you will never reach those goals.  The task will become too big, and you will get completely overwhelmed.

In order to achieve any goals, especially fitness goals, you must fill yourself with positive energy.  Any frustration you experience will turn that energy negative and make it that much more difficult to succeed.

So, today I am celebrating a small victory.  I am celebrating the fact that after two weeks of having my diet in “fat loss mode,” (click on the “my diet” tab at the top to see it) my pants are a bit looser!  Now, it might just be a fraction of an inch, but I don’t care. It is progress, and that is what matters.  I have no idea if I lost a pound, or 3 pounds, or even if I gained a pound, but my pants fit better, so I am happy.  My training program and diet plan are working!  I am a step closer to my skinny jeans!

Celebrate those small victories!  You deserve it!

Happy Celebrating,

-Lisa

I have to say, I gave myself the smallest reward ever- I put stickers on my calendar. I have never been good about keeping a workout journal, but it is so amazing simple to put up a sticker. Now I’m obsessed with making each month a little better than the one before and I feel great when I improve my workout frequency!

    Danielle,
That is a great way to keep track of your progress, and reward yourself for your hard work.

Another thing that I think is great about what you are doing, is that it takes your focus off of the negative, and puts it on the postive progress you are making.

How many times do we beat ourselves up for missing a day at the gym? If you clearly mark each day you do go to the gym on a calendar, then at the end of the month you can celebrate how many days you did go, rather than just dwell on the days you didn’t.
