I Lost 4 Pounds of Fat While I was Sleeping!

Okay, not really.  But it sure felt like it.  Last night my metabolism was burning hotter than the city of Chicago in October of 1871.  Put it this way, last night the low was 2 degrees, -4 windchill.  Which, incidentally, was the coldest night I have ever experienced in my 27 years on earth.  I am usually that girl that is freezing and likes an extra blanket on the bed.  Last night, and again this morning, I had to literally throw the blankets off of me.  I was covered in sweat.

Now, let’s figure this out.  Maybe I turned up the heater extra-high to compensate for the cold.  Nope.  Maybe I am having hot flashes.  No way (remember, I just said I am 27).  Maybe I am getting sick.  Nah, feel good.  So what happened last night?  Well, me boiling up from the inside out actually had nothing to do with that night, and had everything to do with what happened earlier in the day.  Yesterday afternoon, I trained hard, extremely hard.  I squatted more weight than I ever had before (125lbs for 4 sets of 6) and did HIIT training for 15 min.  It was not an easy day at the gym.

In my experience, I have found that the absolute best way to lose fat and keep it off is to combine these two types of training (resistance training and HIIT training).  By training this way, you will jump-start your metabolism, which is exactly what you want to do when trying to get in shape.  Speeding up your metabolism allows you to burn fat at all times, even when you are sitting at your computer, as I am right now. Speeding up your metabolism also allows you to keep the fat off long-term.

So that’s what happened to me last night.  I kicked my metabolism into hyper-drive with my hard work at the gym.  Laying in bed, I could feel the heat literally radiating out of my body.  Feels a bit weird, like when you have the flu and are running a high fever (except for the feeling like dirt part).  But, it also feels awesome, knowing that you are burning fat as you lie there sleeping.  Plus, its a great way to keep warm on the coldest night of your life!

So, train hard girls, and you too can burn 4 pounds of fat while you sleep… okay, maybe not 4, but you get the point!

Happy training,

-Lisa
