My Top 5 “Most Coveted” Celebrity Bodies

As women, we get bombarded with pictures of skinny celebrities everyday. We hear the commentaries about how fashion magazines are creating unrealistic expectations for the way females should look. In most cases, I agree. I meet young girls each day who want to be “skinny,” like Nicole Ritchie or Lindsay Lohan, and I will be the first one to say that this look is not something girls should aspire to. Not only is it unhealthy, it’s ugly too. Today however, I want to look at the opposite side of this issue, because there are also celebrities whose bodies I admire, and whom I think should be a motivation to us “average” women. Here are the top 5 celebrity bodies that inspire me.
Before we get into the list, let me hop up on my soapbox for a minute. Many times I hear women say, “but the results those celebrities get are unrealistic, and couldn’t happen to the average girl.” Or “if I had that kind of money and time, I could look like that too.” Let me address these arguments now before I go any further. First, why do we think celebrities are super-human? Of course you could achieve their results, if you work as hard as they do. Celebrities are still humans, right? As far as the time and money go, I am willing to bet that most celebrities have LESS free time than we do. I remember reading that Demi Moore woke up at 4 am each day to exercise. Now that’s dedication. As far as money goes, no amount of money can buy what hard work can do. Sure they have trainers and chefs, but their trainers are not magic. They are not the ones making it happen. It’s the work that the celebrity clients are doing that gets results. Do you think a celebrity is more capable of hard work than you are?
Now that I got that off my chest, my top 5 celebrity bodies are as follows:
1. Jessica Biel

I remember hearing that when Jessica Biel began on 7th Heaven she was a self-proclaimed “jock.” It shows. I believe that if you looked up ”athletic body” in the dictionary, you would find a picture of Jessica. That is why I chose her as my number one. Her overall body composition and musculature are phenomenal, yet nobody can deny that she still looks feminine.
2. Madonna

If this was a list of the “buffest” celebrities, Madonna would most definitely take my number one spot. Madonna, to me, is a superwoman. Not only is she completely ripped, but she is turning 50. Wow! She is proof that it IS possible to be in better shape at 50 than you were at 20, and that alone is inspiring.
3. Kelly Ripa

OK… now Kelly Ripa is someone who I NEVER thought I would put on my list of fittest celebrities, but have you seen her lately?? Oh my god, she is getting so ripped, and looking awesome! Kelly is an inspiration because a year ago, she was one of those “too skinny” celebrities… to the point that I actually thought her head looked too big for her body. But what a transformation! She said on her show that her trainer has her do 100 push-ups each day! When you look at her arms you can see that she is not joking. Kelly is an inspiration for transforming from “too skinny” to “buff.”
* I specifically included the above picture of Kelly without makeup to show that make-up can do miracles, but her body was gained through hard work, not magic tricks. Even without her make-up and nice clothes, her body is still rockin’.
4. Gwen Stefani

I have always loved Gwen Stefani, I mean, c’mon… she used to do push-ups on stage during her shows. Gwen has a great body, but you can’t deny her best feature is her abs, and that is something that comes from hard work (seeing a trend here?).
5. Jennifer Garner

I remember first seeing Jennifer Garner in Alias and the movie Elektra. With roles like these, Jennifer had to be fit, and not be one of the frail, thin actresses we see so much in Hollywood. Some of the greatest features of Jennifer’s body are her capped shoulders, and because of that, she looks fantastic in about anything she wears. It’s amazing what great body composition will do.
So, these are my top 5 “coveted” celebrity bodies, or let’s face it… the celebrities I would most like to look like in terms of fitness. There are many other fit women in Hollywood, and I am sure you have your favorites. Feel free if you would like to add any to my list in the comments section!
