I Lost 4 Pounds of Fat While I was Sleeping!

February 12th, 2008

baby

Okay, not really.  But it sure felt like it.  Last night my metabolism was burning hotter than the city of Chicago in October of 1871.  Put it this way, last night the low was 2 degrees, -4 windchill.  Which, incidentally, was the coldest night I have ever experienced in my 27 years on earth.  I am usually that girl that is freezing and likes an extra blanket on the bed.  Last night, and again this morning, I had to literally throw the blankets off of me.  I was covered in sweat. My “Magic” Secret to Fat Loss

February 9th, 2008

What’s the best way to lose fat?  That’s the million dollar question!  And I have found the answer, at least for my body that is!  In the past, I have tried running, aerobics classes, lifting weights, riding the stationary bike, you name it.  It wasn’t until about two years ago when I found the answer. Celebrate Small Victories

February 8th, 2008

One of the best ways to stay on track with your fitness goals is to celebrate small victories.  If you are only thinking about the big, long-term results of being 2 or 3 sizes smaller and having muscular, shapely arms, you will never reach those goals.  The task will become too big, and you will get completely overwhelmed. Who Needs “a Diet” Anyway?

February 6th, 2008

Obviously diet is a hot topic when it comes to fitness.  Go to any workplace, any day of the week, around 12:00, and I am sure you will hear some discussion about a “diet.”  Atkins, Weight Watchers, The Zone, South Beach, and on and on and on. I guarantee you, there is at least one person you each lunch with daily, who is “on a diet.”  I personally, try to never say, “I am on a diet.”  Instead, I prefer to use the more general definition of the word: ”diet: the foods eaten, as by a particular person or group” (dictionary.com).   Instead of saying I am going to go on a diet, I tend to say, “I need to fix my diet.”   Read the rest of this entry »

My Scale Lies

February 4th, 2008

scale, weight loss, diet, fat loss, muscle gain

The scale… How many women out there HATE that little 5 letter word?  I for one, loathe the scale, and I know I am not alone.  In fact, most of the women that I know hate the scale in some manner or another.  For most women, it is an evil contraption that always seems to tell us how fat we are.  Honestly, has anyone ever praised a scale?  Even when they were losing weight, ever hear anyone say, “I love that scale!”  No, you don’t.  You only hear about the scale when it is telling you the complete opposite.  I hear women say, “my scale lies.”  And you know what, they are right. My Mission Defined and How I Plan to Get There

February 3rd, 2008

So, now that I have told the world (at least anybody reading this) that I have created Mission:Skinny Jeans; which holds me more accountable to my fitness goals than I have ever been in my life, how am I going to get there? Well, let me start by describing my mission in a bit more detail. Read the rest of this entry »

Goodbye “Fat Jeans,” Hello “Skinny Jeans!”

February 3rd, 2008

Let me clarify something that I mentioned in my first post.  When I talk about “skinny jeans,” I mean my small, sexy jeans that I love, not the “quote, unquote” skinny jean style that has become popular in the last few years.  You know the ones I am talking about, the one that make your butt the widest part of your body, whether it really is or not.  The jeans that taper down to the ankle.  Jeans that would evoke feelings of being stuck in a Pat Benatar video.  And frankly, jeans that would probably NEVER fit my body, no matter how badly I wanted them to. Welcome to My Mission!

January 17th, 2008

How many women are tired of having those “fat jeans” that unfortunately, inevitably always seem to make their way out of the back corner of their closet and on to their body once a year, sometimes for lengthy stretches?  Read the rest of this entry »
